About this place
When hunger strikes while wandering the extensive grounds of Ueno Zoo, Bird Song is a handy kiosk to keep in mind. The counter serves light bites inspired by zoo animals, among which the bamboo-wrapped panda bento has become a staple park lunch from the moment the wrapper is unfolded. Shaped with playful facial details, the seasoned rice is easy for families with children to share, sized well for eating out in the open air.
Alongside hearty options, there is an ample choice of finger foods and snacks. The plump otter bun comes generously stuffed, while the corn balls pair sweet kernels of maize with a soft, creamy filling—both well suited to a short pause between animal exhibits. Visitors will also find butter chicken curry served with naan, crisp french fries, and churros dusted with sugar or cinnamon.
Once orders are collected, sheltered and wisteria-trellised outdoor seating allows guests to take a break over freshly ground hot coffee, shaved ice, or an iced latte. Surrounded by greenery and birdsong, it makes an easy spot to unwind and decide on the next route through the zoo.
